Nor Anything Else
Paul ends the chapter with a list, and the list is not rhetorical. Tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, peril, sword — he had experienced most of them personally by the time he wrote it.
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
He goes through the categories methodically. Death and life. Angels and principalities. Things present and things to come. Height and depth. Then, having run out, he adds a catch-all: nor any other creature.
That last phrase exists because Paul knew his list could not be complete. Somebody would eventually face a thing he had not named, and he closes the gap in advance.
Note also what is absent. He never says these things will not happen. Verse thirty-six quotes a psalm about being killed all the day long.
The promise is not protection from the list. It is that nothing on the list, named or unnamed, can get between you and the love.
He does not promise the list will not come.He promises it cannot separate you.
A month about love ends here on purpose. Everything else in February can be lost — relationships, reputation, the way you feel about yourself.
The one thing on this page that cannot be taken is the last verse of Romans 8.
Carry this today
What are you afraid would finally separate you from God?

Read Romans 8:35–39
35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
