Purpose Under Pressure
Paul does not say we are members of the church. He says we are members one of another. That is a far more personal sentence. Your hand belongs to my body, and mine to yours.
Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;
Under pressure that truth gets lost. We start to believe that if anything is going to get done, we will have to do all of it ourselves. Preach, teach, comfort, organise, and pay for the fuel.
Paul answers with a phrase that sounds almost restful. let us wait on our ministering. Stay with your piece. If you teach, teach. If you serve, serve. Gifts are differing according to the grace that is given to us, which means you were never meant to carry every one.
There is real relief in that. Burnout often comes from carrying a gift that was never handed to you. The body has other members for a reason.
Perhaps you are the one in your family everyone calls when there is a crisis, and your phone has not stopped ringing all week. Ask what is truly yours to carry, and let another member of the body carry the rest.
Pressure says do it all.The body says do your part.
You are a member, not the whole body.
Waiting on your own ministry is not laziness, it is faithfulness.
Carry this today
What are you carrying this week that belongs to another member of the body?

Read Romans 12:5–7
5So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. 6Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; 7Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;
