Courage In the Waiting Room
Isaiah begins with two questions that sound almost impatient. Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard. These people knew the truth already. They had simply grown too tired to hold on to it.
He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
That is what waiting does. It is not that we forget what we believe. The long hours wear the edges off it. So the prophet repeats the basics. God fainteth not, neither is weary. Whatever you are waiting for, he is not tired of you.
Then verse twenty nine. He giveth power to the faint. Look who receives it. Not the strong, not those who have waited well, but the faint, and them that have no might. The qualification for this gift is having nothing left.
Verse thirty removes the last excuse for shame. Even the youths shall faint and be weary. The young, the fit, the people who seemed to have endless energy, they faint too. Running out is human, not a moral failure.
If you are sitting in a waiting room today, at a hospital, an embassy, or on the bench outside a courtroom, you are allowed to be empty. That is exactly who the power is given to.
Even the youths shall faint. The faint are the ones who receive.
Being out of strength is the very condition this promise was written for.
God is not weary of your waiting, even if you are.
Carry this today
What would change if you saw your tiredness as the qualification for help rather than a reason for shame?

28Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. 29He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. 30Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
