Fearfully, And Wonderfully
There is a kind of self-dislike that has learned to sound like humility. It says small things about itself and calls it not being proud, and it is very hard to argue with because it looks like a virtue.
I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Notice who is being praised. The verse is not a compliment to David. It is worship, and the thing being worshipped is God's workmanship.
Which is why the self-dislike does not survive contact with it. To say I am nothing much is not modesty about yourself; it is a review of somebody else's work.
The psalm goes further than most of us are comfortable with. Covered in my mother's womb. Written in thy book. In continuance fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
You were not assembled at speed out of leftover parts. Whatever you have concluded about your worth, it was reached without consulting the person who made you.
Not modesty about yourself.A review of someone else's work.
Self-worth in this psalm is not achieved and it is not earned. It is inherited from the fact of being made deliberately.
Praise Him for it. That is the only posture the verse offers.

Read Psalm 139:13–16
13For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. 14I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. 15My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. 16Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
