She Loved Much
A woman with a bad reputation comes into a Pharisee's dinner uninvited and begins washing Jesus' feet with her tears. The host says nothing out loud, but Jesus answers what he is thinking.
He points out what the host did not do. No water for the feet. No kiss. No oil for the head. The basic courtesies were all withheld, politely.
Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.

Read carefully, the logic runs the other way from how it sounds. She is not forgiven because she loved. She loves because she has grasped the size of what she was forgiven.
And the warning is aimed at the respectable man at the table. Little forgiven, little love — not because his debt was smaller, but because he had never counted it.
She did not love her way in.She had counted the debt.
Cold affection toward God is very often a symptom of an uncounted debt rather than of a hard heart.
The dinner host was not hostile. He was simply unmoved, and Jesus treated that as the more dangerous condition.

Has your debt to God ever been counted, or only assumed to be small?
