Wisdom When Nobody Notices
Divers weights are an abomination unto the LORD. The picture comes from the market. A trader keeps two stones in his bag, a heavy one for buying and a light one for selling. Customers never see the switch.
Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.
That is the point. Divers weights are a sin nobody notices. They live in a pocket. And Proverbs uses one of its strongest words for them. Abomination. God sees the bag.
The verse before is about a different hidden thing: Say not thou, I will recompense evil. Revenge is often planned in silence too. A quiet resolve to pay someone back when the moment comes. Nobody hears it but you.
Instead: wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee. Not, he will punish them for you. He will save you, which may include saving you from becoming the kind of person who keeps a light stone in the bag.
When nobody notices, ask what you are carrying in your pocket. A padded invoice. A measuring tin at the market that runs a little short. A grudge saved for later. Take one of them out today, before anyone has to find it. God already has.
Hidden weights fool the customer. They have never fooled the Lord.
Integrity is what your scale weighs when nobody is checking.
Hand your grudge to God before it becomes your weight.
Carry this today
What hidden weight are you carrying that only you and God know about?

Read Proverbs 20:21–23
21An inheritance may be gotten hastily at the beginning; but the end thereof shall not be blessed. 22Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee. 23Divers weights are an abomination unto the LORD; and a false balance is not good.
